Heaven, Hell and the Earth
Demons and Deities
Acrylic on canvas
40" X 48"
Swords and Bayonets
acrylic on canvas
48" X 40"
Artist's Notes: The painting Demons and
Deities
is based on a real postcard
photograph taken in 1930s America. It was
apparently not uncommon for spectators of
lynchings to have their photo taken near
the victims as a souvenir. A klu klux
klansman, dressed in a actual uniform from
the 1890s holds a burning cross while saint
martin cries out, shaking his broom from a
building window.
Artist's Notes: Swords and Bayonets is
about the 1937 Japanese invasion of
China, often referred to as the Rape of
Nanking. The brutal nature of the invasion
is show here in images taken directly from
two real photographs from the period. The
woman crossing their hands over their mid
regions symbolizes the physical raping
that occurred.
Artist's Notes: The painting Roadside
Bomber
depicts a typical suicide
bombing in iraq. Nails are shown
piercing the flesh of soldiers and iraqi
civilians shown as burka clad woman.
Jesus and the statue of liberty,
American(Western) icons, are also
destroyed by the blast. Darwin cries
from a window as the devil laughs,as
the peace dove dies in the lower left
corner.

Massacre at My Lai
acrylic on canvas
40" X 48"
Artist's Notes: The painting Massacre at
My Lai
is based on the 1968 killing of
several hundred unarmed south
Vietnamese villagers by American
soldiers during the Vietnam conflict. The
characters are based on  real photos of
the event and the repose of two of the
victims is based on a statue which
commemorates the killings.

A Bridge Too Far
acrylic on canvas
40" X 48"
Artist’s Notes: A Bridge Too Far  tells the
story of the Armenian Genocide of 1915,
in which hundreds of thousands Armenian
men, women and children were willfully
slaughtered and  displaced by the
Ottoman Empire, now modern day Turkey.
The painting is based on several
photographs of beheaded murder victims
and actual uniforms and weapons of the
Turks. The burning flags, held by god,
represent both Turkey’s and the United
States’ failure to officially recognize the
events as Genocide.

9:03 Field of Chairs
acrylic on canvas
40" X 48"
"9:03 Field of Chairs" is the first in a
series of three paintings centering around
the Oklahoma City Bombing. It depicts the
Field of Empty Chairs and Survivor Tree
complete with ghostly spirits ascending to
god‘s outstretched hands. The 9:03 Gate
stands as a doorway framing the top and
two sides as Darwin, Lady Liberty and
Jesus cry to the far right. The left side is
flanked by a previously executed Tim
McVeigh and the devil holding a burning
Oklahoma flag. The burning flags
represent the senseless damage done to
both Oklahoma and America by terrorism.
